Newton Court is located at the corner of Folsom and Arapahoe Avenue, just north of the main campus. Newton court consists of one- and two-bedroom apartments and a limited number of three-bedroom apartments.
Materials containing 1-5 percent chrysotile asbestos exist in the acoustic ceilings of many Newton Court apartments. It is important to understand that the material in the ceilings is NOT 100 percent asbestos. Laboratory findings indicate that the small percentage of asbestos material appears to bond with other materials added (e.g. glue, paint and cellulose). To date, the findings indicate we have no airborne asbestos problems in the apartments. We are in the process, nonetheless, of testing, monitoring, and inspecting all of the asbestos material.
