Live-In Requirement for First Year Freshmen Students
Freshmen are required to live in a university residence hall for two academic semesters (a summer term does not count as academic semesters), unless they are married, live with parents or legal guardians and have permission to commute, or limitations of available space.
Research demonstrates living environments within the residence halls provide significant opportunities for freshman students to transition to collegiate life, academic support services (free tutoring to residents in the halls), and staff support.
Exemption Requests should be e-mailed to Occupancy Management at reservations@colorado.edu. Requests are considered based on individual circumstances.
