Tutoring

The Academic Support Assistance Program offers tutoring for students who live in the residence halls....FREE OF CHARGE! The ASAP office was 98 percent successful in fulfilling student requests this past spring. The two types of tutoring services available for students are small group tutoring and drop in tutoring.

Small Group Tutoring

To obtain this free service, students need to fill out a Tutor Request Form (click here for the (PDF) and turn this form in to the front desk of their residence hall, OR they can give it to their academic support resident. These forms are then given to the tutor coordinators who process the availability of the student with the availability of the tutor. We do not offer one-to-one tutoring (this can be obtained through Student Academic Support Services or through individual departments), but the group size is on average four to six (maximum) students per tutor. Students need to be aware that it takes the ASAP office anywhere from two to three business days to process the request once it has been received. Students are encouraged to check their calendars ahead of time and request their tutors prior to major examination periods.

Drop-In Tutoring

The tutoring program provides FREE drop in tutoring for students in the following classes: Math, Physics, EBIO, APPM, CHEM. This service is offered Sunday through Wednesday. In addition to individual help, there are exam reviews available for the following:

  • Large lecture classes
  • Applied math, biology, chemistry, math, and physics
  • Night before the exam
  • Ask your ASR or tutor for additional information

This program allows students to get information about these general and typically very large courses, in a smaller and more manageable session. WARNING: These drop-in opportunities are not designed to assist students who are unable to make their class meetings but rather to augment material covered in these broad spectrum courses.
