  1. What happens if I violate a policy?

If you are involved with a policy violation, the incident will be documented by a member of the community and submitted to the residence hall director. The residence hall director will schedule a conduct meeting with you to discuss your behavior and responsibility in the situation. In addition, the residence hall director will determine the appropriate sanctions when responsibility is determined.

Every member of the living and learning community must assume responsibility for becoming educated about the various policies/rules that govern a caring community. A caring educational community does not tolerate violations of state and federal law, physical and psychological threats, harassment, intimidation, or violence directed against another person. Please refer to the Elements website for residence hall rules, policies, and other information.

  2. What items am I not permitted to bring into the residence halls, for which I can face disciplinary action or even immediate removal?

Candles, incense, large appliances, cooking appliances that have exposed coils, wall tapestries, drugs or alcohol (underage consumption or violation of other related policies), firearms, weapons, fireworks, space heaters, halogen lamps, pets (except for small fish and water turtles), and bean bag chairs.

  3. What happens if I am required to leave the residence halls for not following policies?

Continued violations of the policies that govern the living and learning environment may result in removal from the residence hall system and termination of your housing agreement. In addition, your case may warrant being forwarded to the Office of Judicial Affairs to face university charges.
