The Baker Residential Academic Program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum in the natural sciences, with emphasis on the role of human societies in global, environmental change and the need for good stewardship of the world's limited resources. Classes are limited to 25 students.
Baker RAP also offers students many opportunities to explore the natural world outside of the classroom with program faculty and staff. For example, they may examine regional geology and ecology during overnight trips to the Great Sand Dunes or the Colorado River, study the behavior of elk by observing the annual elk bugling ritual, or learn about weather and climate change while skiing and snowshoeing in the Rocky Mountains.
A number of students in Baker RAP carry out independent study projects with CU faculty and work part time in the natural and environmental sciences, through research opportunities such as the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).
