The Baker Residential Academic Program offers an interdisciplinary curriculum in the natural sciences and the environment, with emphasis on sustainability and the role and responses of human societies to global, environmental change. Classes are typically limited to 25 students.
Baker RAP also offers students many opportunities to explore the natural world outside of the classroom with program faculty and staff. For example, they may examine regional ecology, biology, geology, geography, weather, and climate during overnight trips to the Great Sand Dunes, rock and mountain climbing, and snowshoeing in the Rocky Mountains. Co-curricular events, including speical lectures, dinners hosted by faculty, trips to museums, watching the annual elk bugling ritual in Estes Park, and panning for gold in Idaho Springs are designed to engage students outside the classroom. During a fall Undergraduate Research Symposium, students are introduced to opportunities to conduct research with CU faculty through programs such as the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).
