Excluded from campus.
The safety of the residence hall students is a top priority for Housing & Dining Services (HDS) and the University of Colorado at Boulder. Every year the department reviews the facilities, policies, and practices, to include:
- An audit of the safety and security policies and practices
- A review by the campus life/safety officer and university fire marshal of all the facilities
HDS has recently completed the process of converting the traditional lock and key system to electronic locks for outside entrances. This adds an extra measure of security and privacy for residents.
HDS has reviewed and updated the protocol for reporting anything that might compromise the security of the residence halls. Staff and students are instructed to immediately notify the University Police Department and residence hall management. When the security of the students has potentially been compromised, students in the affected residence hall will be informed of the situation and of the steps that are being taken to remedy the situation.
The housekeeping and maintenance staff members are trained to be vigilant for evidence of tampering with the security systems, and they make frequent and periodic inspections for this purpose.
All visitors, contractors, and vendors must either display a university-issued identification badge, or be escorted by a resident or other authorized representative of the university.
The University Police Department has been contracted to manage the night security staff.
