Baker RAP

2013-14 Baker Hall is being Re-modeled.  Baker RAP moves to Cheyenne Arapaho.

Program Focus

  • Interdisciplinary curriculum emphasizing required courses for natural sciences, pre-health, and environmental studies
  • Wide variety of core curriculum courses satisfying requirements for arts and sciences, business, engineering and environmental design students
  • Special emphasis on sustainability and environmental stewardship

Who is Eligible

  • First and second year students in all schools and colleges; including Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering and Environmental Design
  • All students, regardless of college, need to adhere to policies and procedures associated with participating in the program

Program Description

  • Opportunities to explore the natural world outside of the classroom with program faculty and staff. For example, they may examine regional ecology, biology, geology, geography, weather, and climate during overnight trips to the Great Sand Dunes; rock and mountain climbing; and snowshoeing in the Rocky Mountains
  • Co-curricular events, including special lectures, dinners hosted by faculty, trips to museums, watching the annual elk bugling ritual in Estes Park, and panning for gold in Idaho Springs are designed to engage students outside the classroom
  • During a fall Undergraduate Research Symposium, students are introduced to opportunities to conduct research with CU faculty through programs such as the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)
  • First and second year students in all schools and colleges; including Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering and Environmental Design

  • Select "Residential Academic Program" and "Baker Hall" on the program/hall assignment preference section of the online housing application. A registration packet, schedule, and description of program courses will be mailed to you. Participation is mandatory for freshmen and for all other residents who select and are assigned to the program
  • Assignment to the program will be confirmed through written correspondence from Housing & Dining Services
