Global Engineering RAP

New for August 2013

Program Focus

  • To develop expertise in preparation for the new global conditions of the engineering professions, through experiencing international culture, mastery of a second language, and gaining confidence with IT-driven international communication and collaboration

Who is eligible

  • Open to all Engineering students, with particular attention to first-and second-year students with an academic or personal interest in global engineering, foreign languages, international collaborative design work and international development projects

Program details

  • Faculty Director in Residence is Associate Dean of the Engineering College
  • Students in residence will practice their language skills full time, through speaking Spanish in the Residential Academic Program
  • RAP classes include a hands-on freshman projects course in Global Engineering (GEEN 1400, which is a 3-credit hour tech elective) and a 2000-level seminar on global information communication technologies (HUEN 2020, which is a 3-credit Humanities and Social Sciences class). Further Humanities and Social Sciences courses are available in the residence, including Spanish conversation (SPAN 3001) and Global Engineering Design and Development

To apply

  • Visit the GER website and select "application." This is the academic application to join the RAP
  • Select "Global Engineering Residential Academic Program" and "Kittredge Central" on the program/hall assignment preferences section of the online housing application. Space in the Global Engineering RAP during its inaugural year is limited to 40 students
  • Assignment to the program will be confirmed through written correspondence from Housing & Dining Services.  Participation is mandatory for all residents who select and are assigned to the program
